Years ago, female sexual arousal was thought of as a type of hysteria because women were only supposed to have sex to get pregnant; they weren’t supposed to enjoy it. So, as treatment, they used to send all the women with hysteria to a doctor who would “manually stimulate their genitals” until all the symptoms went away. 

Hysteria suddenly became very popular among women. I wonder why…
